Mycelium-Based Insulation from Upcycled Textiles
Mycolation develops mycelium-based insulation panels using discarded textiles as the primary raw material. In this process, fungal mycelium binds the textile fibers into a stable composite material, creating a circular alternative to conventional insulation products. The approach aims to upcycle textile residues for use in the construction sector while reducing the environmental impact typically associated with common insulation materials.
The panels are designed as an ecological solution for sustainable building and are intended to meet key functional requirements in buildings, like thermal and acoustic insulation. By combining a bio-based material concept with a strong focus on circularity, Mycolation addresses two challenges at once: textile waste and resource-intensive building materials.
